POSITION SUMMARY: Secure and remove a ship’s dock lines at port. Employee is expected to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time in all weather conditions. Ensures compliance with company procedures, EPA, OSHA, and other federal, state, and local regulations. At level 3 and 4, may assume the US Coast Guard “Person-in-Charge” role at the port, representing US Ecology customers.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Catches and throws heaving lines from ship’s docking.
- Pulls mooring lines down the dock and secure to bollards and removes mooring lines from bollards.
- Ability to train and get approval to operate pedestal crane to move cargo and personnel to/from vessel, required at levels 3 & 4.
- Performs dock inspections prior to vessel arrival.
- Performs other, related duties as assigned. These are duties that may not be specifically listed in this description, but which are within the general nature typically associated with the employee’s level of work.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to apply basic judgment in resolving routing issues.
- Has some related technical education or experience to have basic knowledge of operational practices and procedures.
- Ability to keep logs and records, create simple correspondence and comprehend simple instructions.
