Inspired by our lives in and travels to the Middle Kingdom, DĀNWÈI CĀNTĪNG (the Work Unit Restaurant) is a snapshot of the food and energy of Beijing. Our goal is to share Chinese home-style dishes (JIĀCHÁNG CÀI) with the people of Portland, using great technique and fresh local ingredients.

Our name derives from the place where workers in China, up until the mid-1990’s would eat their meals. Since the members of the work unit came from all over China, the chef needed to be able to not only prepare local dishes but regional specialties as well. Our chef has created a menu which continues this tradition, bringing the best of China to the PDX Danwei.

 Join us daily for lunch and dinner, and weekends for breakfast.

BAIJIU | 白酒

Baijiu is the liquor of China. It has been distilled in various forms for over 5000 years and is consumed more frequently than any other spirit in the world. Baijiu is typically distilled from sorghum, barley, millet, or rice, and is categorized by “Aroma” styles including Strong Aroma, Light Aroma, Sauce Aroma, and Rice Aroma.

DĀNWÈI CĀNTĪNG proudly serves baijiu from distilleries around the world. Our library includes favorite brands such as Vinn, Ming River, Moutai, Red Star Ergoutou, Jiangxiaobai, Lucky Cat, and Mianzhu Daqu.

Baijiu goes great with beer. We offer Yanjing “The State Beer of China”, Master Gao, Young Master, Pfreim, Montucky, Boneyard, and Local Lager, as well as ciders from Tumalo of Bend OR.
