The 3D reconstruction and Scene Understanding team is hiring a Senior 3D Computer Vision/Machine Learning Engineer to help us ship the next generation products. With this role you will work on building cloud pipelines, systems and algorithms to solve computer vision problems with machine learning approaches, including contextual understanding, multi-modality AI tasks and 3D reconstruction. You will be collaborating with many expert colleagues and teams in this domain, and be working on Apple’s world-leading hardware and software platforms to deliver fascinating new features to our customers. We expect you have background in machine learning, computer vision algorithms and experience in building large systems for data processing, training and evaluation. More importantly, we expect you to be creative and passionate on solving some of the most challenging technical problems.

Description

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the design, implementation, maintenance and testing of large-scale pipelines for data processing, model training and evaluation. Incubating cutting-edge machine learning models and algorithms for contextual understanding, multi-modality large language models, 3D reconstruction and understanding on Apple’s hardware and system, including feasibility studies, prototyping and improvement of performance and efficiency. You will also partner with software and hardware teams across multiple Apple’s organizations to integrate pipelines, algorithms and models into live systems, providing support to internal and external developers.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience designing, developing and testing large-scale cloud platforms.
• Experience with 3D computer vision (e.g., 3D relocalization, reconstruction, AR/VR, contextual understanding, spatial reasoning).
• Familiarity with quality software development processes, like unit testing, test-driven development, code review, and continuous integration and delivery processes is a plus.
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with other engineering teams.
• BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience

Preferred Qualifications

• MS or Ph.D. on Computer Science, engineering or similar quantitative field with experience on machine learning and/or computer vision
• Proficiency with Python, with experience working on mainstream machine learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow, and experience working mainstream data processing frameworks like NumPy or Pandas.
• Proficiency with C++, with experience working in parallel and concurrent systems.
• Experience with Swift/Objective-C, with experience working on iOS/macOS/visionOS app development.

Pay & Benefits

• At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
