Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is the master planning, creative design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of The Walt Disney Company. Its experienced corps of Imagineers is responsible for the creation – from concept initiation through installation – of all Disney Resorts, theme parks and attractions, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, and new media projects.
You will be responsible for oversight of all aspects of multiple projects within the overall portfolio development, including design and project management through the feasibility and due diligence stages leading up to capital authorization. This role (Feasibility Development Manager) is responsible for tactical project management of multiple projects from blue sky to start-up and transition to individual project team/development managers. Regularly works with creative, technical, engineering and construction teams in the delivery of facility and show design and systems throughout the life of the project. Frontline manager responsible for integration of all project work, monitoring budget and ensuring that delivery schedule is met. Communicate with the Portfolio Project Management & Development Executive, Portfolio Manager, Design & Delivery Teams, all WDI Studio Executives, Global Business, Emerging Business Operations Team, contractors, vendors, and governmental agencies. Project Management is the primary responsible Studio for everything that happens on WDI design, delivery, and construction projects, including all program prerequisites and turnover to Operations.
You will report to the Development Portfolio Manager (PM Studio).
This is about a 3-year Internal Assignment / Project Hire position with no guarantee of permanent placement.
What You Will Do
- Overall management/monitoring of the Scope, Schedule, and Budgets including ROM, Cash Flows, and the Master Development Schedule
- Coordinate the Story Development with the Creative Team
- Day-to-day management of the 3rd Party Design Consultants
- Present project status, risks, opportunities, and issues for partner concern to Senior Leadership
- Produce and quality check routine and ad hoc reporting
- Participate in developing Gate I and Capital Authorization Requests by preparing an Investment Committee deck to memorialize the project parameters in advance of CAR
- Lead development of the Program Book and overall Site Due Diligence to include: define overall Site Plan to include lotting plan, phasing plan and ties to master development schedule
- Work with Operations Team and Creative to develop Amenity Scope Documentation, Architectural Program and Fit & Finish Document
- Lead development of project scope and advancement of pre-CAR conceptual design and design reviews to ensure schedule and budget are appropriately quantified and aligned
- Manage the post Conceptual Design and turnover to execution team at Schematic Design kick-off
- Assist with the development of project resource plans
- Collaborate with internal and external organizations including project team, creative and design studios, operations, municipalities, vendors, and contractors
- Support Deal documentation by working with legal team to document all necessary Agreements with development partners and landowners
- Ensure the implementation the coordinated input matrix and track project deliverables
- Collect, assemble, quality check, and produce project documentation related to PM activities and ensure the overall project documentation program is implemented
- Understand project workflows, design inputs and outputs, and project sequencing relationships
- Participate in the identification and assessment of project risk and contingency determinations
- Document project lessons learned and standard processes
- Facilitation of Invoices/Pay Application review and approvals
- Manage both internal and external regular meetings including agenda development, meeting notes, action items, and follow-up
- Ensures directives/change orders and pay applications are work-flowing on time
- Directs priorities for assigned project(s) with budgets/revenue up to $100 million
- Expect 20% domestic travel
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 3+ years of outside job-related experience or 2-3 years WDI experience
- Excellent project management technical skills
- Manages numerous resources on diverse projects
- Experience with scheduling, estimating, budgeting, and quality control
- Experience preparing and presenting reporting documents and presentations
- Ability to understand the needs of the client and to maintain relationships between the owner/operator
- Ability to comfortably connect with the project team, vendors, consultants, and WDI/Disney Signature Experience partners
- Understanding of the Project Development process
- Organization and task management skills
- Expanded proficiency in Microsoft Suite and other software
- Various GC Project Management Platforms
- Applicable technical certifications related to job specific role
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications using programs like Bluebeam and BIM 360
Education
- A college/university 4-year undergraduate degree in a Walt Disney Imagineering Core field (such as Project/Construction Management, Real Estate Development, Engineering, or Architecture) or related professional experience or technical school is required.
- Applicable technical certifications related to job specific roles.
