Responsibilities
Byers Engineering, a MasTec company, is seeking a Part-time OSP Design Support in support of a large-scale telecommunications project.
Position requires experience with outside and inside plant in aerial and/or underground facilities, with a thorough knowledge of all issues related to federal, state or local government permitting; as well as pole and conduit licensing procedures with utility permitting agencies. Must have experience with obtaining necessary agreement, license, or any other type of approval regarding deeds, leases, easements, and rights-of-way (ROW).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interact with colleagues, contractors, & customer to ensure all design standards are met
- Analyze plant records
- Perform high-level and low-level design of fiber distribution areas
- Drafting workprints
- Preparing supporting documents
- Easement/ROW Research and validation
- Scrutinize colleague’s and contractor’s construction prints, supporting docs, and records posting
- Compare and verify all deliverables prior to submission to the client
- Manage a workload and complete time sensitive work
- Follow-up with colleagues, contractors, & customer and provide a status of any and all assigned work
- Coordinate with other entities (utilities, governmental agencies, contractors, developers, etc.) to determine proper and efficient placement of potentially shared/joint use facilities
- Aide in the documentation of ever-changing standards and practices
- Training of new hires
- Adhere to all Company Safety practices & policies
- No supervisory responsibilities
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Must be competent using any and all AT&T systems, including ARAMIS, MIC, AOTX, ORCA/OSPCM/OPTI, WALDO
- Must have experience with Corning FlexNAP products
- Must have experience with FTTH design
- Must be familiar with all OSP identification
- Must be proficient with AutoCAD
- Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc)
- Must be proficient with PDF editing (Adobe)
- Must be proficient with Google Maps/Street View/Earth
Skills:
- Possess strong communication skills, both oral & written
- Must be self-driven to meet the client’s due dates
- Possess a strong sense of pride in quality of work delivered
- Highly adaptable
Qualifications:
- Formal education in Telecommunications, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field is preferred
- Experience with telecom construction is a plus
- Local to Houston metro area is a plus
- Obtain satisfactory results from a background/employment history investigation and drug screening
Work Environment:
- Flexible schedule around normal business hours
- Work from home
Compensation:
- Hourly rate of $27-32/hr depending on experience
