Job Title: SIC Pipe Welder (WILM BD BM)

Job Summary: Southern Industrial Constructors seeks Pipe Welder to work out of our Wilmington, NC office on various jobsites in the surrounding area. Candidate must be local, but also willing to travel at times – mostly NC, some SC. All types of welding – pipe & structural, xray welding, mechanical, rigging, steel, etc. (everything but electrical). Occasional overtime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Select equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
• Lay out, position, align, and fit components together.
• Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding.
• Set up equipment and weld parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.
• Assemble parts by bolting and riveting.
• Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools.
• Rate information using standards that can be measured or checked.
• Detect, recognize, and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.
• Certification at one or more levels is required.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Significant travel may be required.
• Performs other duties as required.

Physical Requirements/Job Site Requirements: 

• May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to move in and around confided spaces and uneven areas
• Must be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, alarms and other job-related noises
• Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment
• Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position
• Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools
