Position Summary
The Lead Director of Digital Engineering plays a crucial and multifaceted role in providing strategic direction, leadership, and oversight for engineering projects and teams. They are responsible for developing comprehensive project plans, effectively allocating resources, managing budgets, and ensuring unwavering adherence to timelines and quality standards. Collaborating closely with stakeholders, they offer valuable technical guidance, expertly manage risks, and drive the successful execution of engineering projects.
Additionally, the Lead Director actively mentors and develops 8-10 members, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the engineering department. They take an active role in enhancing engineering processes, constantly seeking innovative approaches to optimize efficiency and productivity. The Lead Director will take ownership and utilize exemplary communication skills to support, manage, and mentor engineering professionals with deep and varying technical backgrounds and experience. A successful candidate will be highly motivated and passionate about raising the engineering bar within the team and be cognizant that the success of the team’s work will impact millions of CVS consumers.
What you will do
- Leadership and Team Management: Provides mentorship and guidance to a team of engineers, ensuring they have the necessary resources and support for successful work execution
- Project Oversight: Oversees planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, allocate resources, and monitor progress
- Innovation and Improvement: Drives innovation and improvement by identifying opportunities for adopting new technologies and processes to enhance product development and engineering practices
- Stakeholder Engagement: Develops relationships with key stakeholders, providing technical expertise and aligning engineering initiatives with organizational goals
- Resource Management: Controls resources for implementing engineering protocols, project layouts, and expected deliverables
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of IT/Digital software development experience
- 7+ years leading / managing teams with direct reports with additionally experience in leading medium to large sized teams
- 10+ years of experience with Oracle
- 5+ years of Java and Unix, Linux utilization
- 5+ years of hands-on database maintenance, migration, upgrading hardware and software experience
- 5+ years of cloud technology stack (preferably GCP but open to AWS and Azure)
- 5+ years of experience with tool such as Quantum Metrics, Splunk, AppDynamics
- 5+ years of working on Agile teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in executing and delivering projects, including skills in planning, delivering, and supporting
- Aptitude in business intelligence, with an ability to gather insights and drive data-informed decisions
- Collaboration and teamwork skills, enabling effective communication and coordination with cross-functional teams experience
- Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries, build relationships, and achieve broader organizational goals
- Mastery of problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a track record of successfully resolving complex technical challenges
- Demonstrated commitment to a growth mindset, displaying agility in adapting to change and continuously developing oneself and others
- Ability to learn/work with emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the Cloud/IT technology space
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is: $100,000.00 – $231,500.00.
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
