McCarthy is seeking a qualified applicant to fill a full-time Civil Designer position within our Renewable Energy group. A successful Civil Designer will create site plans and exhibits using AutoCAD Civil 3D to support the project team. The preferred applicant will have a strong work ethic and a desire to learn and grow in their career. The Civil Designer will report to the Civil Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Create conceptual site plans and supporting documents using Civil 3D
- Produce preliminary engineering documents and related material for estimating purposes.
- Ensure proper dimensions of components and equipment through careful reading of specs or construction and engineering plans.
- Communicate technical aspects of a project with other disciplines in the department.
- Read and interpret topography maps, ALTA surveys, and other similar maps to determine project constraints to determine the buildable areas.
- Support the broader team in evaluation of new technologies to increase design efficiency.
- Research and create concept SWPPPs for estimating purposes.
Skills & Qualifications
- 3-5 years of Civil Designer experience.
- Familiar with the techniques of creating surfaces for site grading using Civil 3D.
- General knowledge of construction principles, processes, and plans.
- Reviews a wide variety of construction documents.
- Coordinates drafting resources to execute civil design projects.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
- Solid interpersonal skills and desire to work in a team environment.
- Demonstrate behaviors consistent with McCarthy core values: Genuine, We Not I, All In.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring strong work ethic.
For California locations only, the salary range for this position is: $71,200 – $89,000. This does not include possible bonus and other benefits which can impact total compensation. Compensation offered may vary based on work location, experience, qualifications, specialty, training, and market and business considerations, among other factors.
For Colorado locations only: In accordance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB19-085), we are including McCarthy’s good-faith and reasonable estimate of a range of entry level base compensation at the time of the posting. This does not include possible bonus and other benefits which can impact total compensation. Given the dynamic nature of the large-scale commercial construction industry, a candidate’s project portfolio and background can change the role and compensation for which that candidate might be qualified. The title and pay range for this role could change based on candidate qualifications and experience. Pay Range: $64,700 – $80,900.
