POSITION SUMMARY:
Reports directly to the Vice President Business Development and is responsible for supporting the business development team within the Northern Pacific region. Additional support may be needed for other functioning groups such as marketing and/or data analytics. The Business Development Analyst will observe and contribute to various elements of the annual operating plan (yearly), business plan (new every three years), and participate as needed in client relationship events, pipeline development,
market research, support of RFQ/RFP/interview’s along with jobsite support as needed (CFT, CRM project and resume updaters, potential jobsite visits to gather intel).
Key Responsibilities
Overall Business Development Support
- Market research
- Trends in core markets for McCarthy – healthcare, education, commercial (public and private), and parking.
- New trends in the market – areas our competition may be leveraging
- New / existing client research
- Research to support capture planning
- Review book of lists and research capital spending
- Research social media outlets such as LinkedIn to identify opportunities for touch points with various clients, architects, engineers, etc.
- Prior RFQ/RFP reviews of previous teams
- Work with the business development team to gather, review, and report out on competitor proposals
- Stay connected with ongoing project teams and seek out opportunities to shape future capture strategy
- Competitor research
- Subject matter experts
- Fee / technical score data from previous submittals
- Knowledge of competitors event and philanthropic support
- Event support
- Research events supported by clients or competition and evaluate need to participate
- Attend McCarthy industry events as needed
- Assists with organization of trade shows and other client-related events, golf tournaments, etc.
- Philanthropic support

- Assist business development leads for elements needed for RFQ, RFP, and or interviews
- Meetings
- Attend necessary internal (business development, pursuit, market, and/or office) and external (webcasts, events, etc.) as needed.
- Coordinate and set up Bellringers with BD, OLs, and marketing
Region Support
- Tools to Manage
- CFT – Client Feedback Tool
- CRM
- Resume and project updaters
- Assists business development as necessary to update accounts, contacts, and opportunities
- Logs all RFQ, RFP, and Interview Dates
- Power BI – work with Senior Vice President Business Development for accuracy and entry of data for the tool
- NorPac Events Log
- Work with office EA and BD lead to capture and maintain accurate list of events
- Ensure all events are communicated with attendees and available seats are filled.
- Account Management Dashboard
- Assist business development as necessary to resolve and/or follow up on past due assignments in order to ensure we capture the notes from those client interactions
- Campaigns
- Help facilitate all McCarthy internal campaigns – conference set up and attendance, holiday lists, etc.
Communications
- Internal:
- Manage the business development team’s page
- Notes for all internal business development meetings
- Assist with coordination of marketing request submissions needed to support business development
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering or degree
- Construction / business internship or other related construction / business work experience highly preferred
- General knowledge of construction principles/practices preferred
- Must be geographically mobile and able to relocate within a region
- Strong work ethic and desire to work in a team environment

For California locations only, the salary range for this position is: $90,000 – $125,000. This does not include possible bonus and other benefits which can impact total compensation. Compensation offered may vary based on work location, experience, qualifications, specialty, training, and market and business considerations, among other factors.
