What to Expect
Consider before submitting an application:
This position is expected to start around May 2024 and continue through the entire Summer term (i.e. through August 2024) or into Fall 2024 (i.e. through December 2024) if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships.
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

Energy | Global Business Development
- Global business development is a small but mighty team that works to analyze markets, shape emerging business models, and advise the energy business on how best to meet Tesla’s mission of accelerating the transition to sustainable energy.
Energy | Global Charging Infrastructure, Business Operations
- The Charging team is responsible for overseeing the massive expansion of charging infrastructure to support mass market electric vehicle ownership. The Intern, Energy Operations will assist in optimizing electricity operations across the globe. Projects in this role will focus on tariff optimization, data mapping, and development of process efficiency related to the company’s charging portfolio. The role will require significant collaboration with business units throughout the company.
Energy | Charging Infrastructure Deployment
- For Charging Infrastructure interns: The intern role entails active program coordination and assistance to the Tesla Canada Supercharger team. This means helping with all deployment phases of Tesla’s Supercharger projects, including construction feasibility diligence, layout and design, utility design, project management, easements, permitting, construction, site commissioning, and closeout.
Energy | Business Operations, Home Charging
- The Business Operations Intern will be responsible for strategic projects supporting sales and operations for our Home Charging business, a key enabler of our Vehicle business but also a strong standalone business within Tesla.
Energy | Commercial and Industrial Energy Project
- Commercial and Industrial Energy Projects Drafting team supports in all needs for commercial energy design and installation. Our energy projects type span between Solar, Storage and Supercharger products. We work closely on projects using Megapacks, Powerpacks and Superchargers. Our solar projects are anywhere between few hundred kilowatts on roof to large megawatts on ground mounts.
Energy | Commercial Project Design
- This team works on creating code compliant solar, Charging and/or storage construction plan sets for turnkey commercial and industrial projects. In this role the Intern will support efforts to organize and update documentation.
What You’ll Bring
- Currently pursuing BS, MS, or PhD in field relevant to business planning, economics, financial modelling, data science

Energy | Global Charging Infrastructure, Business Operations
- Experience with data analysis and data mapping
- Knowledge of electricity markets, electric utility tariffs, utility regulation, and EV charging industry a plus
- Impeccable communication and presentation skills, both writing and speaking – ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of individuals
- Highly structured individual with affinity for business models, optimization, and creative thinking
Energy | Charging Infrastructure Deployment
- Proven analytical background and laser-sharp attention to detail
- Experience with managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Superb communication skills, professionalism, and experience working and coordinating with senior decision makers (both internal and external stakeholders)
Preferred qualifications:
- Bilingual (French/English)
- Knowledge and/or experience with electrical (e.g., AC/DC systems, single line diagrams) systems
- Knowledge and/or experience with civil (e.g., concrete & rebar, asphalt, and/or mechanical components) techniques and processes
- Familiarity with construction drawings and/or engineering design best practices, construction management and national codes
- Knowledge and/or experience with talking to permitting authorities and be able to explain new concepts that may not fit “the book” with the goal to educate and persuade them in the direction of an expedited permitting process
Energy | Business Operations, Home Charging
- Ability to analyze data and tease out insights
- Clear, concise and confident communication
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic and able to drive results independently
- Novel perspective and approaches to solving problems
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook
- Preferred: Proficient with SQL, Python
Energy | Commercial and Industrial Energy Project Internship
- Pursing a degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Structure/Civil Engineering, or similar
- A passion for sustainable energy
- Any experience in energy design
- Experience in working on CAD libraries
- REVIT is a plus
Energy | Commercial Project Design
- Pursing a BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Power electronics or Energy
- Industrial Power project experience – cable ratings, site layout and installation considerations etc.
- Basics data analysis
- Developing or reviewing technical documentation with appropriate standards/code references
- Experience in construction and/or manufacturing environment is desirable but not mandatory
- Good organizational skills with strong multi-tasking abilities
- Effective communication skills, both writing and speaking – ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of individuals
- Highly structured individual with affinity for productivity and project management support tools
- Bonus – Power System protection basics – Power system protection relays, power system
- protection settings and co-ordination etc.
- Tools required: Microsoft Suite, Visual Basic Application, SQL or other data analysis tool, AutoCAD or Revit, SKM is a plus

Expected Compensation
$20.00 – $60.00 + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
