What to Expect
Tesla is recruiting highly motivated Automation Controls Technicians to support the installation, start-up, ramp, and continuous support of highly automated manufacturing tools/equipment with the 4680 Battery Cell Team.
You will work with the highest caliber engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and minimize or eliminate downtime. Tesla’s Automation Controls Technicians are the first-responding problem solvers who manage machine breakdown recoveries to keep production running.
This is a physically demanding job working in tight spaces, requiring walking and standing all day, as well as, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing ladders and lying on the ground intermittently throughout the day. In addition, the technician may wear a fall protection harness while working from heights or from a suspended position. Maintenance Technicians will lift up to 50 lbs. and utilize other hand tools and power tools as needed.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain standardized work procedures for PLC troubleshooting, testing and automated equipment controls with several Production and Equipment Engineering peers
- Troubleshoot and maintain all controls components such as PLC, safety devices, HMI, servo drives, process hardware and instrumentation
- Assist in all areas of automated equipment maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure the cell team meets the equipment yield and availability targets
What You’ll Bring
- Demonstrate strong fundamental knowledge and experience with Automated Control Systems
- Skilled at troubleshooting mechanical, electrical and or electro-mechanical systems that includes servo motors, sensors and pneumatic systems
- Skilled in SCADA & HMI systems, such as Ignition, WinCC, and Beckhoff
- Skilled in PLC Languages (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Beckhoff) and or a demonstrated ability to learn new PLCs
- Experience working in a fast paced and dynamic environment and able to manage multiple priorities to achieve and maximize team/departmental goals
- Comfortable running equipment using internal or 3rd party software, able to decipher logs and troubleshoot equipment
- Prociency reading wiring diagrams, schematics, and utilizing them to troubleshoot complex machine issues
- Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
- Experience with MS Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word and other office suite programs
- Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment. Availability off-hours and weekends as needed
- Experience with Fieldbus’s other Networking protocols. Demonstrated abilities with AutoCAD and or Solid works
