Decision Science Product Consultant
Job Overview
The Disney Decision Science & Integration (DDSI) team provides internal consulting services for clients across The Walt Disney Company including Disney Entertainment (Media Networks, The Walt Disney Studios, D+ and Hulu), and Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products. The DDSI team sits at the intersection of business strategy, advanced analytics, and technology integration to help our partners explore opportunities for analytics, shape business decisions and drive value. Our work includes conceptualizing new solutions, solution design and development, implementation (and integration with business processes), and ongoing business support.
DDSI seeks forward-thinking team members who are passionate about learning our client businesses, forming relationships with business leaders, and driving value through the tactical and strategic use of data and analytics. The work requires a combination of analytical mindset with hands-on experience in data and programming, and a natural gift for communicating and presenting complex analytical findings. Strong candidates are those with the right balance of technical and business skills that are critical for successful execution of analytics to drive business values.
Responsibilities
- Act as a Company-wide consultant leveraging advanced analytics and complex science models to solve business problems.
- Contribute to projects that drive value, improve business efficiencies, or guide strategy development.
- Support system requirements-gathering, design and develop solutions to meet those requirements, test implementations, lead user training, and measure ongoing performance of the solutions.
- Be a problem solver; when presented with new challenges, you are expected to research and network to find solutions.
- Be a hands-on contributor who works with SQL, Python, and Tableau to extract data for analysis, seek out answers to business problems, and look for opportunities to automate processes.
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to document business processes, determine functional requirements, and turn them into technical specifications
- Proficiency acquiring, organizing, cleansing, and manipulating complex or large amounts of data
- Demonstrated experience performing exploratory and quantitative analysis and contributing to solution design
- Ability to simplify complex analytics into recommendations that are easily understood and executable
- Ability to build trust and partnerships across various teams and functions understanding the importance of change management
- Ability to understand business context and influence decisions that add sustained value
- Ability to set priorities in response to an ambiguous and rapidly changing business environment
- Demonstrated creative problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Balance of technical expertise and business acumen
- Strong written and oral communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with statistical methods, forecasting, and/or optimization
- Proficiency with one or more of the following languages: SQL, SAS, Python, and/or R
- Development experience using data visualization technologies, such as Tableau
How to Stand Out
- Experience with the media industry, especially television, SVOD, and film
- Experience with marketing, sales, pricing, or revenue management
- Experience with financial analytics and automation
- Experience with internal or external consulting
- Familiarity with Martech/Adtech and identity solutions (Exchanges, DSP, etc.)
- Proven solid experience in developing and applying analytics solutions to drive business values
- Knowledge of machine learning methods
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Data Mining, Analytics, Computer Science, or other quantitative field, or equivalent experience
Preferred Education
Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Data Mining, Analytics, Computer Science, or other quantitative field, or equivalent experience
The hiring range for this position in California is $102,500.00-$137,500.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
