Overview:
We are seeking a Principal Architect – GiveSmart DonorCRM (Remote) to join our growing team!
Responsibilities & Qualifications:
Position Summary
The Principal Architect position is responsible for the high-level decisions in the software development process, determining everything from design choices to technical standards, such as platforms and coding standards. This position will identify and leverage tools and methodologies to create representations for functions and user interface of desired product. The Principal Architect will develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility. This position may contribute by developing application code as needed. The Principal Architect will prescribe standards and guidelines and will act as a consultant to other architects, developers and leadership teams and must demonstrate quality, brevity and timeliness in all deliverables.
A Day in the Life
- Determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software or existing applications
- Mentor and coach development team members
- Solve the most difficult software development challenges
- Establish frameworks for the development of software that will result in high quality solutions
- Maintain balance of business and technical acumen in decision making
- Prescribe source-code management and work item tracking best practices
- Prescribe the estimation process
- Provide consultation to development management team
We are looking for someone who brings

- Required Education and Experience:
- 10+ years professional experience performing software development
- 10+ years professional experience performing software development architecture activities and setting direction
- Master knowledge with respect to the following:
- Knowledge of Python web frameworks and event-driven programming.
- Expertise in at least one popular Python framework (like Django, Flask, Pyramid or FastAPI).
- Basic knowledge of front-end technologies, such as Vue, HTML5, Bootstrap,Type Script, JavaScript (JQuery and AngularJS) and CSS3.
- Hands-on experience with SQL and good exposure to optimization techniques & addressing performance issues.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL is an added advantage but experience with any relational DB would be fine.
- Experience with Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) (e.g., SQLAlchemy).
- Experience with Celery (Python distributed task queue)
- Experience with RESTful API and understanding of web security.
- Strong unit test and debugging skills.
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools.
- Writing clean code and following good practices
- High attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Docker.
- Experience in working with AWS and related cloud architectures.
Web Services (SOAP, XML, JSON, REST) - Ability to learn new languages and technologies.
- Master knowledge of toolsets such as:
- Build Tools: CircleCI, TravisCI, Jenkins, etc.
- Source Control: Git or like
- Work Request Systems: Jira
- Master knowledge of SDLC Methodologies:
- Agile, SCRUM, SAFE, use of architectural patterns/frameworks
- Ability to collaborate, validate and prioritize requirements for projects and request
- Ability to properly assess and articulate risk
- Preferred Education and Experience:
- B.S. or higher in computer science/technology field preferred or equivalent industry experience
- Excellent customer-service orientation
- Effective delegation of tasks and follow-up
- Lead technology assessments and author recommendations
- Knowledgeable of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies
- Capable of meeting deadlines and focuses on results and value creation
- Capable of professionally resolving team issues/conflicts
- Works well with customers and vendors, knows when and how hard to push to maintain a stable and reliable environment
- Capable of leading research into application development issues to successful completion
- Self-motivated and directed
- Capable of prioritizing and execution of tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and regulations preferred (PCI, PII, PHI, HIPAA, GDPR, ADA, etc.)
