Overall Purpose of Role:
– Report to Manager (EDC Tuas) in all Engineering design activities.
– Support Project Lead Manager for Ship Conversions and Ship Repairs design for commercial projects.
Responsibilities:
A. Tender
– Evaluate tender requirement and translate to a technical specification.
– Evaluate available construction of hull and outfitting systems that best meets tender requirements.
– Formulate scope of works for the contract.
– Material estimated for conversion tendering.
– Technical evaluation of various equipment supplier proposals.
B. Contract Drafting and Negotiation
– Participate in contract negotiations.
– Negotiate scope of supply and services with the suppliers.
– Formulate equipment technical specifications for the contract with the suppliers.
C. Design
– Plan, Organise and Discuss with customers for the Hull construction and other technical issues.
– Evaluate completeness and correctness of technical information from the suppliers.
– Design of Engineering layout drawings based on customer requirement.
– Design of Hull construction, outfitting & equipment installation foundation drawings based on contractual requirement and inputs from other trades.
– Performance construction strength analysis by FEM and produce calculation report.
– Performance ship’s stabilities calculations and produce stability booklets.
– Tabulate material & equipment list based on construction and layout drawings
– Plan, manage, produce and issue drawings to production and other trades in EDC Tuas to meet project schedule.
– Technical discussion with other trades in EDC Tuas to resolve technical issues.
D. Documentation control
– To completion and manage the documents control for the department according to Yard’s standard and practice.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine / Mechanical Engineering.
- Knowledge of Naval Architecture and construction design, preferably 5 years of direct experience
- Proficient in Autocad / 3D Solidworks software.
- Knowledge of Rules and Regulations for Ship Classification Society.
- Possess good Interpersonal Skills to collaborate project teams consisting of colleagues from different departments or trades
- Possess good time management to handle multiple projects at same time and able to meet tight deadlines.
Other Information:
- Location: Tuas Road (Island-wide transport provided)
- 5 days work week
- Working Hours: 7.25am-5pm
